VATC‘s Moola honored by Tampa Bay Business Journal as Business Woman of the Year in Technology, wins Angie’s Award for community service
TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 14, 2017 – Sara Moola, co-founder and CEO of Visual Awareness Technologies and Consulting, Inc. (VATC), was honored Friday night by the Tampa Bay Business Journal as a leading Business Woman of the Year, receiving top honors in the Technology category as well as the Angie Award for community service.
In celebrating Moola’s accomplishments, TBBJ highlighted her remarkable achievements over the past year in both business and community service, including:
- Moola’s leadership in VATC’s development and launch of a breakthrough technology platform, EPIC Ready, designed to quickly and cost effectively create a fully integrated training experience to transform the approach to mission readiness. It blends realistic replication of Human Dynamics, a 3D common data visual environment, and quantifiable and objective assessment of performance. VATC is one of the largest defense contractors, and one of the leading women-owned and veteran-owned businesses in the Tampa region.
- Moola’s dedication to supporting the children of fallen members of the Special Operations Forces community. Together with VATC co-founder and COO Mike Vaughn, Moola founded and sponsors the Special Operations Forces Warrior Outdoor Leadership for the Future, an initiative that gives children of fallen Special Operations Forces an opportunity to connect and learn about leadership, life and career building skills within a community of peers. This summer SOF WOLF hosted its fifth annual Gold Star Leadership Camp.
“I’m incredibly honored and humbled to be recognized as one of the top business women in Tampa area,” said Moola. “This is an incredible community in which to grow our business, serve our customers in national defense, attract strong talent and further build and expand our technology products and services to serve our customers around the world. We look forward to continuing to grow in Tampa and giving back to the special operations community who deserve so much.”
Moola founded VATC with Mike Vaughn in 2003, and today the company has emerged as a world leader in Special Operations Forces joint training and exercise programs, operational intelligence services, and geospatial technology solutions. In addition to her work with SOF WOLF, Moola also currently serves as a director on the board of the Economic Development Council, and previously served on the Small Business Development Council and supported Women in Defense as an advisor. She became a member of the Young Professional Organization in 2017, and works with the U.S. State Department in Women and Entrepreneurship, primarily in Africa. Moola is a proud member of National Defense Industrial Association and AFCEA.
