VATC Employees Participate in First Annual SOWF Walk
On November 10, 2011, VATC employees partici-pated in a Global Walk/Run in support of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). Our employees teamed up and walked an equivalent of 177 miles! By lacing up their sneakers and hitting the road, VATC employees raised total donations in the amount of $1,770.
The SOWF provides full scholarship grants and educational and family counseling to the surviving children of special operations personnel who die in operational or training missions and immediate financial assistance to severely wounded special operations personnel and their families. In 2010, the SOWF provided $375,000 to the families of wounded SOF Warriors, bringing the total since 2005 to more than $1.3 million to families of killed or wounded Special Operations personnel. However, since 1980, over 800 Special Operations personnel have lost their lives on operational missions or during intense training programs. Today, more than 910 children survive these oft-unsung heroes. With over 125 children eligible for college each year, the Foundation’s actual financial needs are much higher. To donate to this important cause, please visit www.SpecialOps.org. Thank you to all of our VATC employees who donated their time, effort, and money to this important cause.
VATC employees will continue their volunteer efforts throughout the year to support their goal. Fund raising suggestions are welcome. GO TEAM VATC!!!!
