TAMPA, Fla. (May 6, 2019) – This April, Visual Awareness Technologies and Consulting, Inc. (VATC™), a leader in delivering advanced Distributed Missions Operations training environments to government and commercial customers around the world, was awarded a contract to support the training of the 163rd Military Intelligence Battalion (MI BN) at Camp Bullis in San Antonio, TX.
Support consisted of VATC’s HUMINT professionals role-playing simulated targeted individuals in addition to coaching and mentoring 163rd MI BN HUMINT Soldiers.
VATC Chief Operating Officer (COO) Tim Creighton said, “Because VATC has such a large pool of dedicated role players, we were able to rapidly fill this requirement with seasoned professionals who take pride in mentoring younger service members and contributing to a unit’s readiness.”
The 163rd MI BN, subordinate unit of the 504th MI Brigade at Fort Hood, specializes in expeditionary intelligence operations. Unit personnel must be prepared to conduct Human Intelligence (HUMINT) interrogation and detainee operations within both non-permissive and semi-permissive environments.
Observation coaching (OC) was an added task for VATC personnel. Due to the level of experience and expertise provided by VATC contractors, it was requested that the contractors provided feedback and critiques by filling out Daily Interrogation Performance Reports (DIPR).
“Unlike our experienced contractors, many of the MI soldiers did not possess real-world interrogation experience. Passing this knowledge onto young soldiers is invaluable and critical to the battalion’s expeditionary intelligence readiness,” said VATC CEO Sara Moola.
The exercise was informative and helped prepare soldiers within the 163rd MI BN’s HUMINT Collection Team (HCT), Operational Management Team (OMT) and HUMINT Operations Section to execute their deployed missions. The training exercise ran from April 6-14, 2019.
For over a decade, VATC has been supporting Special Operations Forces, Conventional Forces, Partner Nation units, as well as DHS organizations with role player exercise support.
